Commencing from July 1, 2023, Indian students enrolled in courses in Australia can now seek employment in the country without requiring a visa sponsorship for a maximum duration of eight years under the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES). This arrangement introduces an opportunity for 3,000 young professionals from India annually to reside and work in Australia for a period of two years without the need for visa sponsorship.
The MATES program creates a fresh avenue for Indian graduates and early career professionals with expertise in targeted fields to establish their lives and careers in Australia.
Additionally, the new regulations state that Indian professionals in various domains such as engineering, information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, financial technology, renewable energy, and mining are eligible for this visa.
The eligible sectors encompassed by the MATES visa are:
– Engineering
– Mining
– Financial technology
– Artificial intelligence
– Information & Communication Technology
– Agricultural Technology
– Renewable Energy
To qualify for the MATES visa, the following criteria must be met:
– Applicants must be below the age of 31
– Graduation from a recognized and verified university is a prerequisite
– Recent graduation completion is mandatory
– Applicants should be in the early stages of their careers
Regarding Australian visa processing, the government announced in April its intentions to revamp the immigration system in order to expedite the entry of highly skilled workers into the country. The aim is to attract skilled migrants by simplifying and expediting the visa application process for high-skilled professionals while also implementing measures to retain international students.
